Perms

Perms at Kim Sun Young, we offer various types of perms including root perms, normal perms, digital or setting perms, and will recommend one depending on your desired look and hair type. Understanding Perms, digital perms involve a heat and chemical treatment that chemically restructures your hair. This is a more expensive treatment and works best for Asian hair (but always check with your stylist). Our stylists start by treating your hair with chemicals and then using heat to curl sections of your hair. The benefit of a digital perm is that it results in fuller, more natural looking perms than other perms, especially when compared to normal perms. A normal perm (cold perm) involves curling dry hair around a rod, followed by soaking your hair in a cold wave chemical solution. This is cheaper and faster option compared to digital perms, and results in tighter curls which are more prominent when the hair is wet. Root Perms We specialise in Korean root perms which create subtle, effortless volume at the root. This type of perm is suitable for giving flat hair an added lift, without needing any teasing combs or volumising sprays. If you’re not sure which perm is right for you, please contact us or book in an appointment to consult with one of our stylists!

Perms At Sydney's Leading Hair Salon

A perm is a hairstyle created using chemicals to break and reform the bonds of the hair. The new bonds give the hair shape and structure, which can be curled, waved, or straightened.

Perming your hair is a big decision. There are many different types of perms, so it's important to discuss your options with your stylist before making a final decision.

If you're considering getting a perm, one of Sydney's leading perm hair salons is Kim Sun Young. With experienced stylists and a wide variety of perm options, you're sure to find the perfect look for you.

How do you get a perm?

If you're looking to get a perm at one of Sydney's leading hair salons, there are a few things you need to know. First, perms can be either permanent or temporary. Permanent perms last for several months, while temporary perms only last for a few weeks. There are also different types of perms, such as body wave perms and spiral perms.

To get a perm, your hairstylist will first wrap your hair around rods of different sizes. The size of the rod will determine the size of the curl. Then, your stylist will apply a perm solution to your hair and let it sit for a few minutes. After that, they'll rinse out the solution and dry your hair. Finally, they'll style your hair into the desired shape.

The whole process usually takes about an hour or two, depending on the type of perm you're getting and the length of your hair. So it's important to note that you may need to have your perm redone every few months to keep up with the new growth of your hair.

Types of Perms we specialise in

Root Perms (starts from A$120)

A root perm is a type of perm applied to the roots of your hair to give them extra volume and lift. This is a great option for those with fine or thin hair, as it can help to give your hair the appearance of being fuller and thicker. Root perms can be done at any length, but they are typically most effective on shorter styles. If you are considering getting a root perm, talk to your stylist about the best length.

Normal Perms (starts from A$160)

A normal perm is a chemical treatment that changes the structure of your hair. This means that the new style will last until your hair grows out or you have it cut. The type of perm you choose will depend on the look you want to achieve and the condition of your hair.

Digital or Setting Perms (starts from A$180)

A digital or setting perm is a type of perm that uses heat to set the hair in curls or waves. This type of perm is often used to create beachy waves or natural-looking curls. Setting perms can be done on all hair types, but they work best on healthy, damage-free hair.
